Description:
This black-and-white photograph is a visual poem about hope, sorrow, and a miraculous encounter.

It was created as a two-layer composition – the original image of a kingfisher, seen at a pivotal moment in life, is overlaid with a misty impression of a tree and landscape. The result is a symbolic apparition, evoking a memory, a vision, or a dream.

The title is no coincidence. The rare sighting of the kingfisher became, for the author, a moment of silent turning – a commitment to happiness that one must allow oneself. The photograph captures not only the fragile beauty of nature, but also an inner transformation, a personal mythology born in the moment when something from the outside pierces deeply within.

"I feel like I haven't created anything that didn't already exist – except that I managed to see that kingfisher."
– Jan Skalák
